About us

Our story,

M.I. Honey is a small, family-run beekeeping business based in Selby, North Yorkshire. We are Cristina & Valentin but the name of our business is practically the initials of our two wonderful daughters Maria & Ioana.

It all started with a dream, a project, later 2 hives in our allotment and now we managed to increase our families of bees up to 38 colonies spread in 5 apiaries, all around North Yorkshire area: Selby, Hambleton, Riccall, Source Bridge A19 and Hemingbrough.

For the 2023 our goals were to take some of our colonies to the borage fields in Hillam and to the heather moors in Yorkshire Dales. We are proud to announce that we succeeded, our bees worked really hard, the weather was on our side too and we made a very good harvest.

Bees are at risk, and now, they need us to return the favour!

Bees play a special role in keeping our meadows, woodlands, heathlands and hedgerows alive. The food we need to survive is pollinated by bees. In fact, globally, around a third of our crops are pollinated by insects.

Bees don’t just pollinate food for humans. Bees pollinate trees and flowers, which provide homes for the other wildlife we love and depend on.
